One week before the start of the 2021 MXGP season in Russia, Simon Längenfelder used the French Elite Championship event in Ernee as a final preparation. The starting field was very strong with a number of MX2 World Championship riders.
Simon Längenfelder set the fourth fastest time in his group in qualifying and thus laid a good basis for the start.
In the first race, however, Längenfelder had an unfortunate crash at the start and had to chase the entire field of riders. Lap after lap, the young German fought his way forward, position by position, and finished the race in 15th place.
In the second race, Längenfelder entered the first turn in second place and was in the top group from the start. In the course of the race, however, he had to let one rider pass, but overtook another direct competitor on the same lap and saw the chequered flag in fourth place after 25 minutes + 2 laps.
Simon Längenfelder finished sixth overall in the day's standings.
Simon Längenfelder: "The track in Ernee was very demanding and did not forgive any mistakes. Still, it was fun and a good last test before the start of the MXGP season. I feel good and I'm looking forward to the start of the season in Russia next weekend."
